To this day the statue is a symbol of democracy and political freedom. The statue is open to visitors (following a period when it was closed from 11 September, 2001 to 4 July, 2009). For those who are able, there is a 146-stair climb up into the crown which provides a view of New York Harbor through its windows.

Ellis Island Immigration Museum

Ellis Island operated from January 1892 to November 1954 as the main facility for processing immigrants to the United States. It is now part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument and contains an immigration museum. More than 100 million Americans can trace their ancestry within this fascinating museum. The museum contains walking tours, interactive exhibits and movies. It aims to reveal the challenges that immigrants to the United States faced and the experiences that those coming through Ellis Island endured.

Central Park

Central Park has been in existence for 150 years as an oasis of calm in the bustling city. Visitors can enjoy multiple activities in the park including Central Park Zoo, strawberry fields, Shakespeare garden, Belvedere castle, horse-drawn carriage rides, skating rinks, boat rides or playgrounds. Or you can simply choose to stop there for a picnic or a stroll around the grounds. The park extends from 59th to 110th Streets and from 5th Avenue to 8th Avenue and covers a huge 850 acres.
